Consilium Staffing is proud to announce the success of October's charity event series benefiting Children's Medical Center of Dallas, a non-profit hospital that provides care to all children regardless of their family's ability to pay.
Consilium's Hospital Medicine, Primary Care, Psychiatry and Operations Teams waged a week-long "penny-war" in the office to collect funds benefiting Children's Medical Center's "Change for Children" program. Thousands of pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters later, Consilium presented the Children's Foundation with a sizable check. Private donations from areas citizens and corporate groups are critical to the hospital's operating budget as well as support programs designed to make time at the hospital more comfortable for children and their families.
Consilium employees got crafty this month creating and assembling Godly Play Folders, biblical parable kits, used by hospital chaplains to assist a child in explaining courses of treatment. The Godly Play Folders fold out to illustrate familiar stories, such as The Good Shepherd, in a way that allows the expression of emotion through play.
October's events culminated with the Red Balloon Run and Ride, a 1k fun-run and 5k run/walk and 30k cycle event on October 20, 2012 at Children's Medical Center campus in Plano, TX. Team Consilium and their families participated in the run and festivities in support of the Children's Foundation.
"Partnering with Children's Medical Center has been a great experience. We generated a nice donation for Children's via the penny war and we had a great time coming together as a team to create Godly Play Folders," said Matt Baade, Executive Vice President for Consilium. "And to top it off by running the Red Balloon 5K with my own daughter brought the whole thing together. Seeing the signs along the race course with the amazing stories of the children who have been helped by Children's Medical Center gave me a further appreciation for the health of my own family and for the tremendous work done by the people at Children's Medical Center."
Consilium's partnership with Children's Medical Center will not end with October's events – both organizations are looking forward to a long-term partnership with benefits going straight to the good of children and their families.
"At its core, Consilium Staffing is an organization that cares deeply about serving our community, and we couldn't ask to partner with a better organization with such a quality reputation than Children's Medical Center" said John Moberly, Consilium Staffing Vice President.
"Locum Tenens" is a Latin phrase meaning "to hold the place of." Consilium Staffing partners with hospitals, primary care offices, urgent care centers, correctional institutions and other healthcare facilities that may be understaffed or under-served by sourcing physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are able to provide coverage on a temporary contract basis.
