On December 14, 2024, a team of 15 dedicated Consilium Cares volunteers gathered at the DFW National Cemetery to take part in Wreaths Across America (WAA) Day—a national movement dedicated to honoring and remembering America’s fallen heroes. With each wreath placed, our volunteers not only paid tribute to those who served but also helped the DFW cemetery reach its ambitious goal of laying 58,600 wreaths, ensuring that no grave was left unadorned.
A Day of Service and Reflection
As part of this nationwide initiative, each team at Consilium donated at least one wreath, contributing a total of 26 wreaths to this meaningful cause. The day began with a moving ceremony on a hilltop overlooking the cemetery, featuring a military flyover and a series of solemn tributes. Representatives from each branch of the military placed ceremonial wreaths, with the backdrop of performances by a Veteran’s choir, bagpipes playing “Amazing Grace,” and the poignant notes of Taps.
One of the speakers reminded attendees that while the view of the cemetery adorned with wreaths is beautiful, this day was about more than decoration—it was about remembrance and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.
Placing Wreaths, Speaking Names
Consilium’s volunteers joined thousands of others to lay wreaths and speak the names of the fallen as a sign of gratitude. As Wreaths Across America states: “Every wreath is a gesture of appreciation, and saying their names ensures their legacy lives on.” Amy Gentile, a volunteer from Consilium, shared why this day held deep meaning for her:
“It was a privilege to take part in this event. I wanted to participate because my dad served in Vietnam. Volunteers lay wreaths at the National Cemetery where he is buried in Arlington, VA. To have the opportunity to do the same for someone else’s father or loved one was an honor. God bless those who served and are no longer with us. Gone but never forgotten.”
For Reece Walker, another Consilium volunteer, the event offered a first-time opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of past generations:
“This is the first time I’ve participated in Wreaths Across America, and it was a deeply moving experience. It was an honor to pay tribute to our nation’s veterans, placing the wreath and speaking their names in thanks for their service and memory. It’s a small gesture of our great appreciation for the many freedoms we enjoy today because of their sacrifices.”
A Nationwide Mission of Gratitude
Consilium’s efforts were part of a larger mission that saw over two million volunteers and supporters gather at more than 4,600 locations across all 50 states, as well as at sea and abroad. The purpose of Wreaths Across America—Remember, Honor, and Teach—resonated deeply with our team, as they joined the collective effort to preserve the memory of those who served.
To all the volunteers across the country, Wreaths Across America expressed its gratitude:
“To the thousands of volunteers who showed up with hearts full of love and hands ready to serve—thank you for your dedication.”
Consilium is proud to have taken part in such a meaningful cause, standing alongside families and communities to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.
