On March 21, 2025, Consilium Cares hosted their second annual March Madness Charity Basketball Tournament, benefitting the DFW Humane Society.
The month-long campaign of activities culminated in an exciting basketball tournament that brought employees together for a cause close to their hearts: helping pets in need.
Giving back all month long
All month long, Consilium’s break room was transformed into a hub for giving back.
A large table displayed colorful collections of blankets and toys destined for the DFW Humane Society’s no-kill shelter. A diverse gallery of employee pet photos decorated the table, showcasing all kinds of beloved pets from cats and dogs to pigs and iguanas.
This adorable display highlighted the Consilium community’s love for all animals and their commitment to helping those still waiting for forever homes.
And now, for the main event
The big show – a 3×3 basketball tournament – featured 8 teams with a total of 50 players and referees. Creative names like “Sleepers,” “IV League,” and “Locum Lakers,” added fun and personality to the competitive spirit.
After intense, hard-fought matches that had the crowd cheering throughout, the Molly Madness team emerged victorious, taking home the trophy for this year’s tournament!
The impact
Consilium Cares’ dedication to the DFW Humane Society was evident in the results:
- $1,400 raised for the General Care fund – nearly double last year’s donation
- Multiple bags of toys and blankets donated to comfort shelter animals
Funds raised were donated to the DFW Humane Society’s General Care fund, which helps purchase food, vaccines, and essential supplies for the animals in their care.
“Thank you again for all of your support! General Care goes to help the animals and our team was excited to see all of the nice blankets!” said Danielle Fry, Operations Manager at DFW Humane Society.
When the donations were delivered, Jackie, the speckled “front-desk dog” at the shelter, gave her personal seal of approval.
Building community through sports
This event is a winner among Consilium team members, one of whom expressed:
“Our Annual Basketball tournament for the DFW Humane Society is my favorite event of the year! As a sports fanatic and animal lover, it’s a fun-filled event for a great cause!”
Another team member shared, “I got involved because I believe in using sports as a way to give back to the community. The DFW Humane Society fundraiser was a great opportunity to combine teamwork and compassion, all while making a real impact for animals in need.”
