Consilium Cares: Serving the Community One Snack Bag at a Time

Standing in triple-digit heat, Consilium employees watched two trucks drive away, loaded with nearly 3,000 “Bye-Bye Bags.” These snack bags would help feed children across Dallas for the next few weeks! This Consilium Cares initiative brought our team together to serve the community and support families in need.

The 6th-Annual Bye-Bye Bag Project

In 2020, Consilium Cares started our partnership with Vogel, and we have loved working on various projects with them ever since. For the sixth year in a row, the Bye-Bye Bag Project was launched with the same excitement.

Consilium team members are competitive by nature, so naturally, we turned this initiative into a competition. Throughout the month, we shopped for nutritious snack items that kids would love.

We decorated brown paper bags, drawing superheroes, cartoon characters, games, and jokes. One of our teams donated 39 bags per person!

On donation day, we took several elevator trips, loading the delivery trucks. Last year, Consilium donated about 2,400 bye-bye bags.

In 2025, we packed 2,812 bags! Vogel told us, “I definitely think you all broke the record! We might need to get you a trophy!”

What Is the “Bye-Bye Bag Project”?

Vogel fights against food insecurity in Dallas as part of its mission to support families. That’s why, as children say “bye-bye!” each evening, the center gives them a snack bag to ensure they have something to eat. Vogel hands out hundreds of bye-bye bags each day to children whose families are receiving assistance from the center.

When Consilium’s donation arrived, Vogel replied, “Thank you all so much for your hard work. Our families will greatly appreciate all of the goodies. We hope to continue our partnership and, once again, Vogel appreciates your kindness and generosity!”

The Impact: Vogel and the Community

“How can a homeless mother get a job if she has no safe haven for her children?” – Thelma Vogel

Dallas, Texas, is known as a leading business center with one of the fastest-growing populations in the United States. Despite the Fortune 500 companies and widespread charity work, Dallas has one of the highest child poverty rates.

In 1987, Vogel opened its doors as a child care center, serving families who struggled to secure work or housing. Vogel states, “It is our vision at Vogel to make sure that every child in our community has a home, a self-sufficient family, and a foundation for success in school and life.”

While the center focuses on child care, it also offers GED training, financial literacy classes, and career preparation for adults. The center believes that “a two-generation approach provides developmental interventions for children while helping parents establish a stable home environment.”

Bringing Our Values to Life: Love and Servant Spirit in Action

At Consilium, our values guide everything we do, and Consilium Cares is where they shine. Two of our core values — love and servant spirit — were evident in every bag packed for Vogel. Together, our teams exemplify what happens when values are more than words and result in tangible impact.

Love in Action

At Consilium, we love all and strive to live out the golden rule each day. One team member shared, “I get so emotional when it comes to the Bye-Bye Bags. I love the fact that, with our help, the Vogel kids are not going home without a meal.”

Servant Spirit in Action

Our commitment to serving others fuels everything we do, creating a community and environment of success. Vogel shares this dedication, creating stabilized environments for children and families.

Another Consilium team member shared, “My team cares deeply about children. Multiple team members have kids of their own and do everything in their power and knowledge to provide for them. We understand that everyone’s situation is different, so if we can help even the smallest amount with the bye-bye bags, we will do so!”

It’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Snacks, socks, and bars of soap make a difference to hurting families near you.  Explore Vogel’s urgent needs today to get started!
