Driving Change: Consilium’s Charity Event Benefits Vogel Alcove

At Consilium, it’s our mission to support and serve others in everything we do. That’s why in May 2024, during Mental Health Awareness Month, we hosted our 2nd annual Consilium Charity Week Golf Tournament, Auction, and Raffle to raise money for Vogel Alcove’s Behavioral Health services in Dallas, Texas.

Driving Change for Children

Vogel Alcove is a non-profit organization that helps young children and their families prevent and overcome the traumatic effects of homelessness and poverty. It’s their vision that every child in our community have a home, a self-sufficient family, and a foundation for success in school and life. Because homelessness can cause enduring physical, emotional, and mental trauma in children, Vogel works hard to mitigate these effects through all of their efforts. And to support Vogel Alcove and their array of therapeutic services for children and families, Consilium staff and the community showed up in FULL SWING.

A Week of Golf, Giving, and Fun

Consilium’s Charity Week featured a silent auction, a raffle, and an exciting golf tournament. Raffle and auction items included Consilium’s executive vice president’s coveted parking spot, homemade candles and cookies, new golf clubs, an assortment of gift cards, automobile detailing services, and generous Mothers’ Day gift baskets.

The highlight of the week was the charity tournament. With 38 players and a few brave caddies, participants donated to walk two rounds on a par-3, 9-hole course. The weather was beautiful, and while only two teams took home trophies, everyone won by having fun and supporting Vogel Alcove.

Reza Saataz, a Consilium employee and participant, shared his enthusiasm: “I loved everything about the event. From the people helping out at each hole with food and drinks, to my team that ended up winning! An event that’s outdoors and helps build relationships within Consilium is an event that I’ll always attend. It’s nice to be outside with work friends having a good time and playing golf for Vogel Alcove.”

Drew Mireles, another Consilium employee, echoed this sentiment: “Participating in an event that supports Vogel Alcove is a no-brainer for people at Consilium – and getting to play golf was icing on the cake. In the world of staffing, we’re committed to serving facilities at breakneck speed. Events like the Charity Golf Tournament and Consilium Cares serve as a great opportunity to pause, reflect, and practice our core values for organizations like Vogel Alcove.”

More About Vogel Alcove’s Mission

Vogel Alcove provides a safe place where children can receive support at the most critical times in their developing lives. Vogel Alcove’s intervention provides trauma-informed care that helps to counteract the effects of homelessness and put children on a path to success. With therapeutic play areas, sensory gardens, counseling, and even yoga classes, Vogel Alcove offers stable emotional outlets for children – and free behavioral health services for parents – to help families cope with stressful life events. Consilium staff raised significant funds to support these therapy programs, as well as to help provide basics like toys for play therapy and language translator headphones for non-English-speaking families.

Heather Bradford, Vogel Alcove’s Director of Community Outreach and Events, emphasized the importance of Vogel’s work: “Homeless children have three times more developmental, emotional, and behavioral problems. Vogel Alcove is a calming space where kids can experience healthy intellectual, social, and emotional growth. Mental and emotional trauma can limit parents’ abilities to become self-sufficient and parent effectively. Children living with a depressed parent often experience adverse medical, mental health, and educational outcomes. With the support of Consilium Staffing, Vogel Alcove can continue this vital work with the families we serve.”
