An Overwhelming Staffing Snowball
For a community health center like TCA Health, staffing is a mission-critical challenge. Without the right providers, the people who need care the most are the first to go without it.
TCA Health faced years of compounding staffing gaps. First, finding quality providers was difficult, and managing the full scope of the staffing process added strain to an already stretched administrative team. Then, as gaps grew, the staff who remained absorbed the burden. Overwork became the norm. Balance disappeared.
Finally, the pressure became unsustainable. TCA Health was forced to close certain locations because they didn’t have the staff. These closures left underserved communities without access to care.
Sending Help Where It Was Needed Most
To reopen their facilities and stabilize operations, TCA Health reached out for help. Consilium answered.
Over the past five years, Consilium has placed seven locum providers with TCA Health, including pediatricians and psychiatrists — two of the most difficult specialties to place consistently in community health settings.
Some locum providers worked standard 3-month contracts for continuity of care. Others stayed for more than 12 months, providing extended coverage for TCA Health to rebuild stability.
With reliable coverage in place, TCA Health was able to see more patients, reduce the burden on existing staff, and keep their locations open and operational.
